About Us

This website helps ex-offenders and soon-to-be-released incarcerated persons find career planning, training, and job search information.

STEP AHEAD was created for use on a secured computer system within Minnesota Department of Corrections facilities. The goal was to create a "website" with comprehensive career information for those who do not have access to the Internet. All content on that "closed website" is mirrored on the live site, hosted by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.

See highlighted features on the STEP AHEAD handout (967KB, .pdf). Or take a quick tour of the website and find out how the STEP AHEAD project was developed.
